‘Hendry Ford’ won the ladies betterball stableford competition at Margate Country Club on Saturday.
As a pairing, Hilary Hendry and Margaret Ford form a team loosely resembling the name of Ford Motor company founder Henry Ford, and together they operate like a well-oiled machine.
They took top honours on 48 points, three points clear of Anita Scheepers and Lesley Erasmus, who counted out Sandi Johnston and Lexley Lewis for second place.
Edwin Steyn and Patrick Mavundla were the other winners on Saturday, narrowly clinching the men’s betterball stableford competition on 50 points.
Johan Stoltz and Stephen Herbst counted out Tommie Brits and Edwin Steyn (pivot) for second place on 49 points.
Lizzie Meyer, meanwhile, won Tuesday’s ladies individual stableford on 39 points.
Margaret Ford counted out Kay Young for second place on 37 points.
Wednesday’s wobblers fourball alliance (two to count) was won by Eddie Scheepers, Alan Davies, Thys Bothma and Hans Beilhartz on 94 points.
The Arthur Tomlinson Floater went to Dave Morrison, Wimpie Jordaan, Andy Buchan and Keith Duncalf on 76 points.
Thursday’s betterball medal sponsored by Margate Pro Shop was won by Eddie Davies and Jane Davies on 59 nett.
They counted out runners-up Mike Bond and Keith Duncalf, with Shannon Gottlieb and Sandi Johnston – the latter winning the nearest to pin prize on the 16th sponsored by Hibiscus Retirement Villages – finishing third on 60 nett.
