Several items including two firearms, cellphones and a laptop were missing from the scene.

Garth Walker (70) formerly from Scottburgh, was murdered when he returned to his residence in Ocean View near Rocky Bay on December 21 and interrupted a house robbery.

According to police, Mr Walker’s girlfriend was alone at the residence prior to his return and at about 3.30pm, four men confronted her and demanded cash and firearms.

He was taken to one of the upper level rooms by one of the men while the others searched elsewhere. “The woman then heard her boyfriend’s vehicle pull up into the yard,” said Scottburgh Saps communications officer, Captain Adam Francis.

“She heard gun shots and jumped through a window, ran to the R102 to seek assistance, and was brought to the Community Service Centre.”

When police and other law enforcement officers arrived at the scene, they found Mr Walker dead in the kitchen with a gunshot wound.

Several items including two firearms, cellphones and a laptop were missing from the scene.

No arrests have been made as yet and police ask that anyone with information pertaining the case contact Detective Sergeant Weidon Govender on 039-9781900 or Crime Stop on 0860010111.
