Intelligence driven operations yield results for Port Shepstone SAPS

Successes were achieved in two separate intelligence driven operations during the week end.  On  Saturday morning  a special operation commenced at 03:30 in the Southport policing area of Kwa Madlala, Fairview mission and Umzumbe. Cluster commander, Maj Genl Thembi Ndlovu, was the overall commander and Major Gavin de Lange was the operational officer.  Officers from Port Shepstone cluster and members from  Port Shepstone TRT, SAPS Southport, SAPS Msinsini , members from Port Shepstone and Umzinto K9 units, VIS, Crime Intelligence and    Protection Services ,  took part in the operation.   Stop and searches were done and two vehicles of which the chassis and engine numbers were altered, were confiscated.  A wanted suspect, Musi Mbutho (23), for whom there were two warrants of arrest  issued, was also arrested.  He was wanted for house breaking.  Four persons  were arrested for being in possession of a dangerous weapon and five people were arrested for being in possession of dagga.

In a separate operation WO Patrick Gosling, Cst Raphael Smithwick,  cst Mzakwe Makana and cst Lee Frost,   arrested a 60 year old man for being in,  possession of two pistols and 14 rounds of ammunition without a license in the Creighton area on Thursday night.

All suspects will appear in court soon in Port Shepstone  and Ixopo court soon.
