The Kingfisher Bowling Association (KBA) senior women’s team returned from the Perfect Delivery Bowls South Africa Senior Inter District Championship in Pretoria with bronze medals.
The senior women were the only KBA side to clinch medals in the week-long tournament, which was hosted by Bowls Gauteng North.
The bronze-winning team consisted of Daphne Sapsford, Jenny Rawlins, Heather Roberts, Mada Lindeque, Kobie Stander, Marthie Pringle, Dora Vosloo, Helen Proctor and manager Gae Gravell.
The Perfect Delivery Bowls South Africa Open Inter District Championship was simultaneously played in Bloemfontein, with the B teams playing in East London.
The Open finals in Bloemfontein were disrupted by a huge storm, which flooded the green, and Bowls South Africa took the decision to award gold medals to all the finalists.
KBA president Lynne Bamber, who travelled to Bloemfontein as manager of the women’s open team, told eHowz!t: “We are proud of our senior ladies and all of our teams that participated.
“I think this must be a first for as long as I have been playing Inter Districts – this is now my 15th year – that gold medals have been awarded to all players.”
