Ugu Friday morning update on Uvongo reservoir

COURTESY UPDATE: UVONGO

Repair Work @ Edward Rd was partially completed last night.
Team needs to firmly secure the pipe this morning (back filling) to prevent breaking, and water will be opened .
Reservoirs are 50% and 37%; meaning that water supply will be restored almost immediately after opening.
Please allow another 2 hours; and I will update you if anything changes.

URGENT NOTICE – UVONGO AREA

There’s a break on the inlet to Uvongo reservoir.
Alpine way should immediately experience water shortage as they feed directly from inlet.

Kindly allow 4-6 hours repairs and restoration time.

EARLIER THURSDAY MORNING 11 JANUARY UPDATE:

AREA NORTH (UMDONI MUNICIPALITY)
Water and Sanitation systems are stable and all in operation.

AREA SOUTH WEST ( RAY NKONYENI AND UMUZIWABANTU MUNICIPALITIES)
A 200mm pipe was fixed yesterday and all systems have improved capacity and remain stable.

AREA SOUTH (UMZUMBE AND RAY NKONYENI MUNICIPALITIES)

PUMULA AND MELVILLE:
Please note that there’s a break at the border of Pumula and Melville which repairs commenced.
Technical repairs will resume at 9H00 this morning with the assistance of Ray Nkonyeni Municipality’s Traffic Control Services.

Kindly allow 4-6 hours for work to be completed and water supply restored.

SOUTHBROOM TO PORT EDWARD.
Ugu notes that few streets in Port Edward and Leisure Bay have reported water shortage.
Work is progressing well at the Umtamvuna plant.

Water has been opened already; flowing into resevours; though full production is yet to be confirmed.
