Kendall Marillier has praised her teachers and detailed her journey at Southcity thus far.
The grade eight learner noted: “Five years at Southcity School…WOW! How time has flown by. After 4 wonderful years in the Senior Primary, I was faced with an overwhelming amount of emotions. Will the work be too difficult? Who will my teachers be? Will I cope or, will I be out of my depth?
“We were greeted with the task of babysitting bricks for two weeks. I initially thought that it was a useless activity, but I now realise what a huge impact it had on us. It set the tone for the rest of the year and helped build character and teamwork and break down barriers.
“After a fun week, those overwhelming emotions resurfaced. However, they were soon calmed by our teachers who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and settled, even in the midst of a pandemic.
“As much as 2020 has been a chaotic and uncertain year, grade 8 has provided an exceptional introduction to the rest of the high school and I am tremendously excited to see what lies ahead.”
