It was Sophia Loren who famously claimed to owe her iconic looks to pasta. Aaah. Spaghetti. That weekly staple. But what do you do with it next? Or have you got a great recipe or two that you stick to already?
When I feel like a good pasta dish, few things beat the flavours in this effortless roasted tomato sauce. For quick meals in summer I also love tossing cooked spaghetti with panfried artichokes, chili and garlic. Another favourite is a combination of fresh tomato, rocket and ricotta spiked with some olives or anchovies.

A lighter, brighter and greeener version of everyone’s favourite pasta.
2. Chicken bolognaise
Use turkey or chicken mince in this recipe for a lighter alternative. Serve with sliced avocado.

Ostrich meat is a low-fat alternative to red meat and delicious in this ragu.
4. Pork banger spaghetti
Try adding grated courgette at the last minute to transform this dish into a healthier one, that kids will love.

Do something different with mince. Leftover meatballs are handy for snack boxes.
