The Port Shepstone man whose life depended on an immediate liver transplant died on Saturday.
Shaun Govender (50), a local attorney for the Port Shepstone SAPS, died of organ failure in a Johannesburg hospital. He suffered a rare reaction to TB medication which caused his liver to fail.
His family appealed to the country for a donation in a bid to save his life. However their attempts were in vain. His wife and doctors say that it is very rare for TB medication to cause liver failure.
Govender’s funeral service will be held on Tuesday at Christ the King Catholic Church in Port Shepstone. Body will lie in state from 11.30am to 1.30pm. Tributes from 1.30pm until 2pm followed by mass.
