STATEMENT BY LOWER SOUTH COAST ANC:
LOWER SOUTH COAST REGION SHOCKED AT YET ANOTHER KILLING OF A SENIOR LEADER
The ANC Lower South coast region is shocked and saddened by the apparent deliberate and senseless murder of one of its popular branch leaders of Ward 4 Oshabeni.
Cde Sifiso Cele 42 was shot and killed  on Monday 7 May 2018 at 6.20am when armed men entered the home of his girlfriend in extension 3 Margate. Reports indicate that the intruders herded the rest of the family into another room whilst cde Cele was taken to a bedroom where he was shot.
This senseless murder of our fellow leader and member of our community has angered party members across the region because it comes within days of the murder of Cde Nombuso Mqadi who was laid to rest this past weekend.
Cde Cele was a disciplined and active member of the ward 4 branch . He served as the branch chairperson of ward 4 for 2 terms and was currently serving as its treasurer .
The ANC Lower South Coast region expresses concern that police have yet to make a breakthrough in the spate of killings that continue to plague the region.
We call on the National Police commissioner to set up a task team to specifically deal with the recent killings as these now appear to strengthen  community fears that these are politically motivated.
We call on all our people to remain calm and assist the police with any information that might assist in bringing the culprits to book.
The regional  leadership will be engaging  with law enforcement n security officials in the province and at a national level to highlight our concerns
