Show your support for the champions of local animal care this year.

The Lower South Coast SPCA opened in Uvongo (corner of Seaslopes and Quarry road) in March 1971 and has since been at the forefront of not only preventing cruelty to animals, but also to assist some of the most disadvantaged rural areas in South Africa, maintain a healthy and animal-loving region.

From its humble beginnings with a single kennel block and office, the Lower South Coast SPCA is today a beehive of activity consisting of 160 dog kennels, cattery, administrative and inspectorate offices and a Full animal Hospital.

Over the past four years, the Lower South Coast SPCA had to deal with exceptional growth in the number of animals requiring assistance. Be it from the decline in the economy or perhaps the renewed focus on animal welfare of the South Coast by the SPCA management and committee through its mission to educate, assist and enforce.

The staggering increase in the number of animals assisted from 7696 in 2013 to 11 400 animals in 2017 has certainly shown that the Lower South Coast SPCA is the preferred animal welfare organisation on the South Coast.

Locals are urged to show their support of the wonderful work being done by the local SPCA in a variety of ways, including by purchasing an adorable 2018 calendar for only R100 at the SPCA itself, as well as the SPCA charity shops, Ramsgate Stationers (Southcoast Mall) and Mnandi Juice (Pick n Pay, Margate).

One can also support the SPCA charity shops, situated in Uvongo, at Harbour View Centre in Port Shepstone and RS Howe Centre (entrance to Shelly Centre parking) in Shelly Beach.

Of course, locals are also welcome to support the NGO through monetary donations and the donation of food and items like blankets, clothing, linen, books, kitchen ware, electrical items, furniture, ornaments…just about anything. All your unwanted items are needed, and the SPCA also collects.
