A very hot weekend was had at the J.C. Jollife Pool in Pietermaritzburg, with temperatures reaching 36 degrees.

Despite the heat, Margate Swimming Club (MSC) members did exceptionally well at the Seals gala, with them all improving their personal bests by seconds and splits.

Bayanda Hufner, Kayde Orsmond and Kaitlyn Ramos improved their times on their 100m freestyle, maintaining their Level 3 qualification.

Kayde knocked a whopping 22.77 seconds off his 200m individual medley and Kaitlyn qualified for Level 3 on her 100m backstroke and freestyle.

Keagan Ramos, the only eight-year-old male swimmer, kept up with the big boys and maintained his Level 2 in his 100m freestyle.

MSC looks forward to the next event, the third Ugu age group gala, at Southcity School on 21 November.
