A father and his two children aged three and seven sustained serious injuries when their vehicle plunged into a river in Southport on Wednesday evening at around 20h00. Reports indicate that the family was travelling on the south bound lane of the R102 when the vehicle left the roadway, smashed through the railings and landed in the river below.
Netcare 911 paramedics the SAP and a bystander arrived at the scene and managed to rescue the patients from the partially submerged vehicle. It was found that they had all sustained serious injuries, and the three year old boy also suffered near drowning symptoms. Paramedics stabilised the injured on scene and then transported them to a nearby hospital for the care that they required.
