KwaZulu-Natal teams ‘broke even’ on the opening day of the South African Schools Interprovincial All Ages Netball tournament at the Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre in Gamalakhe on Tuesday.
After Monday’s memorable opening ceremony, teams from Under-12 up to Under-18 level took to the courts for the first matchday of the national tournament on Tuesday hoping to get off to a good start.
All but one of the KwaZulu-Natal sides were in action in Pool D. The Under-14s were grouped in Pool A, while all but the Under-13s played two games on the day.
The Under-13s finished the day as the only unbeaten KwaZulu-Natal side after beating Ndlovu 15-7 in their only match.
The majority of the teams from the hosting province finished Day One with a 50 percent win record.
The Under-18s lost 24-17 to Yellowwood and beat Diamonds 27-21.
The Under-17s failed to open their account as they suffered back-to-back defeat to Willows (18-13) and Ndlovu (21-11).
