UGU STATEMENT:

Please note the following system status update: Area South 22 June 2020

BHOBHOYI SYSTEM:

Plant is operational and all boosters are running including Sport and Leisure.

MARBURG SYSTEM: Reservoir outlet was closed last night to build up levels in order to build reserve. Esperanza reservoir and electrician dispatched to start pumps. Councillors are duly reminded that due to limited supply to Marburg reservoir; outlet is closed at night between 21:00 to 04:00 to build up reserve to be able to supply Marburg, Bhobhoyi, Mkholombe, Oslo Beach during the day.

Immediate plan: plant shutdown when demand subside to check old plant valves for possible bypass and sending more water to Southern system. Shutdown plan will be communicated in due course.

Long term: bulk line upgrade based on infrastructure funding availability.

Umzimkhulu/Northern reservoirs are all healthy and stable. Anerley/Southport supply areas were affected from Saturday due to two major water line burst which were repaired Sunday afternoon. Break that was affecting Albersville Reservoir next to Old fire station was also repaired last night and Break affecting Tweni in Fixton road repaired yesterday.

GAMALAKHE SYSTEM: reservoir and tower above 30% and 80% respectively. Sport and Leisure tripped last night and pump has since been started. Msikaba line opened.

MURCHISON: Murchison hospital is being supplied and community reservoir will be supplied in the afternoon.

Shelly Beach, Uvongo and Margate CBD supply reservoirs healthy and stable.

SEASLOPES SYSTEM: Seaslopes above 57% feeding Ramsgate and upper Margate systems, Ramsgate South and North above 70%. Kaisers, Nosita and Game reserve supply was affected by blockage on Kaisers pump main and problem was resolved on Thursday night and Nosita game is slowly recovering with outlet being closed at night currently at 22%.. illegal connections on the pumping main affect reservoir recovery.

Umthavuna plant is operational. Hanover pump station feeding KwaXolo and Izingolweni.
KwaXolo: Dumezulu and Gcilima and Nkothaneni.

Coastal supply opened: Port Edward and Grassmere being fed.

MHLABATSHANE SYSTEM: Supply opened to Mehlomnyama/Dweshula system. Today team will direct supply to Dweshula reservoirs. Inadequate supply is still a challange; Umgeni supply is being closed at night to build plant command reservoir impacting reservoir recovery at night. KwaMadlala, Magog supply is greatly affected and some areas have not received reticulated water for more than a week and relying on water tankers.

KWAHLONGWA plant operational: supply area is on water rotation due to limited supply.

Water Tankers: There are only 4 out of 15 tankers currently operational: This affects supply programme for areas without water infrastructure.

Vacuum tankers: 1/7: sewage draw backlog has increased.

Hired Truck: 17 hired and 1 from Rand Water.

Sanitation: Margate sewage pump station was recommissioned on the 18th June.
