Morrison, Egerton too good at Margate Country Club

Dave Morrison and Derek Egerton won Saturday’s men’s betterball stableford at Margate Country Club on 50 points.

Simon Shusha and Maureen Ogilvie were the runners-up on 47 points, while Brian Jolliffe and Robbie Myburgh won a count out for third place on 46 points.

The week got off to a slow start with no ladies competition on Tuesday due to the course being closed for Spring treatment and Wednesday’s wobblers competition raining out.

Graham Scowby subsequently made the most of Thursday’s individual stableford, winning the Margate Pro Shop-sponsored competition on 43 points.

Brian Jolliffe was second on 42 points and Flip Fourie third on 39 points.

The nearest to pin prize on the 16th sponsored by Hibiscus Retirement Villages went to Mick Merry.

Friday’s Business Day alliance sponsored by Giorgio Autobody Panelbeaters (two to count, three on holes 8, 9, 17 and 18) went down to a count out.

In the end, the team of Christo Esterhuizen, Jaco van der Wal, Johan Neetling and Heber de Beer bested Wonder Nxumalo, Maritz, Deon Meyer and Thys le Roux on 105 points.

Frik van Zyl, Johan Erasmus, Marius Visser and Dries were third (104), Guy Yeadon, Arthur Ehlert, Bobby Wagner and Frank Carr fourth (103) and Dennis Reebok, Don Osbourne, Neil Townsend and Roy Matkovitch fifth (101).

The nearest to pin prizes went to Don Osbourne on the 4th and Jim Finn on the 16th.
