Mtshaka wins Margate Sanlam Cancer Challenge

Ronnie Mtshaka won the Sanlam Cancer Challenge at Margate Country Club on Saturday.

The club’s golfers turned up in numbers to support the fundraiser and it was Mtshaka who came away with the win on 38 points ahead of Elvis Khawula (36 points) and Wonder Nxumalo (34 points oco).

Piet Ludick won the B Division on 42 points, where Arthur Elhert (40 points) and Fanie Terblanche (39 points) finished second and third.

The C Division was won by Theuns Esterhuizen on 40 points. He had a comfortable lead over runner-up Norman Bridger, who counted out John Crewe on 33 points.

The nearest to pin prizes went to Guy Yeadon (8th), Piet Ludick (11th), Anita Scheepers (2nd) and Lexley Lewis (16th).

Beryl Williamson won Tuesday’s ladies individual stableford sponsored by Margate Pro Shop on 38 points.

Evelyn Burls counted out Margaret Taylor for second place on 36 points with Irene Tomlinson finishing fourth on 35 points.

Wednesday’s wobblers threeball alliance was won by Louie Kuhn, Gert Bezuidenhout and Dolf Willemse on 93 points, one better than Jim Finn, Alex Botha and Tony Comte.

Frank Stephens, Eddie Scheepers and Keith Duncalf were third on 90 points.

The Arthur Tomlinson Floater went to Dieter Jucker, Robert Henning and Dave Boyd on 76 points.

Thursday’s individual medal sponsored by Margate Pro Shop was won by Alan Davies on 69 nett.

John Ford counted out John Webster and Sandi Johnston for second place after the trio all finished on 70 nett.

Wrapping up the nearest to pin 16th prize sponsored by Hibiscus Retirement Villages was Johan Stoltz.
