MEDIA STATEMENT BY PORT SHEPSTONE CLUSTER SAPS COMMUNICATION:
A 41 year old Murchison woman from Enkanyezini Ward 22 was convicted of possession of drugs in the Port Shepstone Magistrates Court on 27 September 2019. She was sentenced to pay a fine of R30 000 or 3 years imprisonment of which R10 000 or 12 months is suspended on condition that she is not convicted of this offence during the period of suspension.
Port Shepstone SAPS members arrested the woman on Sunday 15 July 2018 after acting on intelligence. Upon searching the house, Mandrax tablets, heroin capsules and a small amount of dagga was found.
Detective Constable Lungi Hadebe investigated the matter.
The public are urged to continue to report all criminal activities to the nearest police station and to attend local Community Policing Forum Meetings in order to actively support the SAPS in the ongoing fight against crime.
