Three young children drowned at Margate Beach late on Saturday.
According to police spokesperson Zandra Wiid they were part of a group of children from Pietermaritzburg on a trip to Gcilima, who went to the beach for an excursion.
Four of them, three girls and a boy, got into trouble in the surf, and one girl could be pulled from the sea by bystanders. Two girls drowned and were washed up on the rocks.
A current pulled the boy into the sea, and the NSRI searched for him on Saturday night, without success. The search continued on Sunday. Lencel and Bev were at the beach during the NSRI search on Saturday night.
