STATEMENT BY ANC LOWER SOUTH COAST REGION:

The ANC Lower South Coast Region lowers its revolutionary banners over the sad passing of ANC Regional Task Team (RTT) member Cde Mthobisi Ndobebomvu Mbotho (36).

Cde Mbotho lost a long term battle with illness on 12 September 2020. Ndodebomvu, as he was affectionately known, was a dynamic, fearless and vocal young leader who dedicated his life to serving the greater good of society.

His activism, dedication and commitment to serving the poor and marginalized saw him rise through the ranks over the years in all the structures in which he participated. He was known for going the extra mile, and that won him favor and respect from among the poor and vulnerable.

As a young leader, he chose to remain within his community to serve this rural area despite receiving opportunities with far greater benefits outside of the town of Umuziwabantu.

He grew up in the ranks of MDM structures and his activism propelled him to lead the ANCYL and the ANC at branch level until he was elected to serve as Sub-regional Secretary of Umuziwabantu, a position he held until his untimely passing.

The Provincial Leadership of the ANC saw tremendous potential in this young man and entrusted him as a leader and member of the Regional Task Team (RTT ).

Cde Mbotho graduated with a political Science degree from UKZN in 2009, and served on various local structures. He was a site steward for SADTU, and a committee member of the Mbotho Tribal Court.

Cde Mbotho was a fearless activist who stood steadfastly by his beliefs until the end. The ANC expresses its condolences to the Mbotho family, friends and comrades. The loss to the Umuziwabantu community is indescribable.

You have fought a good fight, ndlelanhle Mshikila may your indomitable soul find eternal peace.
