STATEMENT BY NSRI SHELLY BEACH STATION COMMANDER JEREMIAH JACKSON:
At 07h11, Saturday, 28th September, NSRI Shelly Beach duty crew were activated following reports of a ski-boat capsized while heading out to sea in the surf zone off-shore of Shelly Beach.
While responding to the base Shelly Beach Control confirmed that both crew, adult males, of the capsized boat were accounted for and safe on shore on rocks and the capsized boat was in the surf.
Med-Evac ambulance services were also activated.
On arrival on the scene both casualty males were assessed by Med-Evac paramedics and not injured they required no further assistance and we assisted, together with local boaters and the beach office, to recover the casualty boat which was righted and recovered and owners will assess their for repairs.
NSRI commend the swift response to this incident.
