Bodyboarder saves swimmer in jeopardy at Lucien

STATEMENT BY NSRI SHELLY BEACH DUTY COXSWAIN RHUAN BEATTIE:

At 11h33, Thursday, 22 September, NSRI Shelly Beach duty crew were activated following reports from Med-Evac ambulance services of a swimmer in difficulty at Lucien Beach in Manaba.

The sea rescue craft Spirit of Dawn was launched.

Our NSRI sea rescue vehicle and Police Search and Rescue responded to join Med-Evac paramedics on the scene.

It was then confirmed that an unidentified man using a bodyboard had assisted the casualty to shore and the casualty was not injured and no further assistance was required.

The unidentified bodyboarder is commended for his assistance.
