Taxi driver Njabulo Nyawose is to stand trial on 21 and 22 October this year on a charge of culpable homicide. This was determined by the Port Shepstone magistrates court on Wednesday.
Nyawose’s appearance will be a consequence of Olympic cyclist Burry Stander’s death in an accident in Marine Drive, Shelly Beach, in January this year. Nyawose’s taxi was involved in the crash. The charge against him was temporarily withdrawn last month, but was formally reinstated on Wednesday. Relatives of both Stander and Nyawose attended the proceedings.
