Covid-19: Deadly week in Ugu district

Nearly two dozen people passed away due to Covid-19 in the Ugu district over the past week.

The death toll in the region more than doubled over the last seven days – from 15 to 36.

The number of new confirmed cases were down, from 1018 the previous week to 709, bringing the total to 3133, while 1585 people have recovered.

The Ray Nkonyeni Municipality area contributes over 70% of the total infections within Ugu District Municipality.

The hotspots are Port Shepstone, Margate, Gamalakhe, Nzimakwe, Murchison and Izingolweni.
