Covid-19 cases approaching new milestone in Ugu district

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the Ugu district moved closer to the 4000-mark on Monday.

The region’s tally stands at 3973, following a single-day surge of 139 new cases.

The death toll and recovery rate remain 76 and 2058 respectively.

The Covid-19 death rate in the Ugu district continued to climb this past week.

For the second week in a row, the death toll in the region more than doubled, with a record 40 people passing away over the last seven days, taking the total to 76.

Also for the second successive week, the number of new confirmed cases were down, albeit slightly, from 709 to 701.

A total of 3834 positive cases have been identified, 2058 of which have recovered.
