PRESS RELEASE BY UGU SOUTH COAST TOURISM:
Take a South Coast beach break over the Easter holidays
Two great long weekends are around the corner and there is no better place to be than on the KZN South Coast.
The whole of South Africa has just voted Uvongo its KwaZulu-Natal favourite town in the KykNet Kwêla Dorp van die Jaar 2019 competition, following sister town Margate, which was a national finalist in 2017.
Lie back and relax on your favourite beach or get active on Margate beach with Bioplus! Beach sports will be the order of the day with activities ranging from Beach Aerobics, Beach Zumba, Beach Volleyball, Beach Cricket, Beach Touch Rugby and Beach Soccer on Margate beach from Friday 19 April to Monday 22 April.
Whatever you do, don’t miss the South Coast Bike Fest™ on 26-28 April! A firm favourite to enjoy with family or friends, this annual live music and biker festival gets everyone to soak up the holiday vibe in Margate.
Catch top artists on stage including 35 of SA’s top DJ’s and bands such as Desmond & The Tutus, Pascal and Pearce, Locnville, Distruction Boyz, Euphonik, Dan Patlansky and many more.
Visit the pop-up food village, 8 beachfront boulevard themed bars, 9 on-site restaurants and bars, the festival market, street busking, a mass ride, Sunset Beach Party and a seafood and wine jazz deck. At the Full Throttle Staging Arena, see some of the most extreme biking stunts and demo’s by SA’s most daring riders.
For the best in bikes and accessories, there are Dealership Expo Decks, Classic Bike Club Show Deck, Bike Repair Workshop and Pre-owned Sales Deck.
Showcasing the biking community spirit will be a number of outrides and outreach projects, including two Biker Extreme Festivals in the hinterland at KwaXolo and KwaNzimakwe.
A Park ‘n Ride Shuttle Service will get you between the Hibiscus Mall parking area and festival site. The award-winning Margate SAPS precinct will be working closely with the event security personnel to ensure everyone is kept safe throughout the festival.
Apart from a diverse range of activities, other events to choose from include the KZNRRC (Dezzi South Coast Raceway, 13 April); Margate Kennel Club Open Show Agility & Dog Jumping (Borough Sports Ground, Port Shepstone, 14 April); 039 Good Friday Eksperience (Gamalakhe, 19 April); KZN Ugu Tennis Tournament (various tennis clubs, 19-21 April); UBC 2019 Easter Carnival (Scott Street, Scottburgh, 21 April); Easter Sunrise Service (Margate beach 6 am, 21 Apr); Umdoni Team Challenge (Umdoni Park Golf Club, 26 April); KZN Drags (Dezzi South Coast Raceway, 27 April); South Coast Bike Fest™, Margate, 26-28 April; Hibiscus Ultra Marathon (Ugu Sports & Leisure Centre, 28 April); 4BBB Golf (Wild Coast Sun Country Club, 28 April); and Margate Week Bowls Tournament (Margate Bowling Club, 29 April-3 May).
