The Fallen Friends pool competition in aid of South Coast Hospice at Van’s Diners in Margate on Saturday was a huge success.

It was a fun time for the whole family with kids having a ball in the play area, live music playing and delicious food.

The competition was won by Shane Knox, but the real winner was South Coast Hospice as R17,040.00 was raised.

An elated BT King, South Coast Hospice’s fund-raising co-ordinator, commented, “A big thank you to Jan and Vlooi van der Merwe for allowing us to host the event at their pub and a huge thank you to the pool players, family and friends who came to support and made the day such a wonderful success.

“Thank you to Alan from The Wild Bunch Bikers Club who went around and raised R1380 for the Black Widow hamper, which was won by Hayley Knox and then auctioned off to raise a further R2000!

“Thanks to the teenagers who took such good care of our little ones while moms and dads were busy with the pool game, to Tony for the wonderful music during the day, and the kitchen staff of Van’s Diner for the amazing food.

“We look forward to seeing everyone at the final Fallen Friends pool competition for the year at Buccaneers on 30 May.”
