Firearm recovered, drug arrests made in Port Shepstone

During execution of their duties, members of the Provincial Drug and Firearm Unit utilised intelligence with regard to an illegal firearm and drugs in the Port Shepstone area.

A thirty-one-year-old female was arrested in Bhobhoyi on 15 October after she found in possession of a .45 revolver with four live rounds of ammunition. The serial number of the firearm was erased. The firearm will be subjected to ballistic tests to establish if it was used in the commission of another crime.

The woman was charged for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and appeared in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s court on 16 October 2020. The matter was remanded to 15 December 2020.

A twenty-seven-year-old man was arrested on Thursday 15 October in Bhobhoyi when he found to be in possession of at least 64 capsules of heroin, 12 pieces of rock cocaine and 10 mandrax tablets.

The street value of the drugs is R4000. The suspect was charged and will reappear in court on 15 December 2020. A Sony Camcorder was also found abandoned on the property.

A forty-two-year-old foreign national was arrested at a shopping center in Port Shepstone and found in possession of four plastic wrappings of cocaine, 13 pieces of rock cocaine and three wrappings of crystal meth.

The drugs are valued at approximately R6000. The accused will appear in court again on 23 October 2020.
