STATEMENT BY UGU SAPS:
Ezinqoleni SAPS utilized intelligence on 6 November at 22:00 with regard to a motor vehicle which was involved in a business robbery at Mzamba in the Eastern Cape and which was heading in the direction of Ezinqoleni.
A joint operation between SAPS Ezinqoleni, Port Shepstone Highway patrol, SAPS K9 and UGU Cluster Operation Command Center, resulted in the arrest of three suspects after the vehicle was intercepted at Ezinqoleni.
A 9mm Norinco pistol with eight rounds of ammunition, nine full bags of groceries, a number of cellphones and two bank card swiping machines were found in their possession.
The trio, aged 20, 21 and 26 appeared in the Ezinqoleni Magistrate’s Court facing charges of possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition as well as possession of suspected stolen property.
