An exited and young Port Shepstone ladies hockey team made their way to Durban to take on Kearsney 2 in their season opener over the weekend.

It was announced by new coach Aiden Bennett before the match at Queensmead that the leadership duo for 2015 would be captain Kelly Rothman and vice-captain Marike Durrheim.

As the match started Kearsney scored the first goal.

A few minutes later they broke through again and converted a second.

Amy Becket then scored a brilliant goal for Sheppie before Kearsney broke through again and won the game.

Rothman and goalkeeper Chloe Beech kept the score margin down and were therefore named players of the match.

This Saturday they take on Collegians/Munies.
