The 1st Margate Scout Group on Saturday held an open day and all were invited to come see what Scouting is all about.
The 1st Margate Scout Group has been going for almost 75 years and have been in the same Scout Hall for close to 35 years.
Visitors were shown around the Scout Hall and given detailed information about the Scout Program. Several Scout Parents were at hand to share first-hand how Scouting has benefited their child.
The Cubs and Scouts showed the visiting children around and shared some fun stories of their Scouting adventures. Then all took part in some great Scouting activities.
The Cubs and their visitors built a catapult and then had a water balloon ‘fight’. The Scouts rigged up a block and tackle and hoisted each other up a tree.
“From the committee, we want to say a big thank you to the Scouts and Cubs for making the open day so successful,” said 1st Margate Scout Group secretary Nicola Fey.
“It was brilliant the way that the Scouts and Cubs came together and were able to show and explain the excitement and fun of the scouting program to the many parents and children that came to visit and see what it’s is all about.
“A big thank you to all the Scouters, Scouts and Cubs that were present as well as to the parents that were able to be there and assist on the day. It was a big success as we got a couple of application forms already and numerous interested children,” Fey added.
