Port Shepstone Country Club bowlers were rewarded and reflected on a great year at their awards function recently.
The club’s bowlers had a fantastic year with some very commendable achievements, notably Lynden Wright winning the KBA veterans singles title and then going on to win the Champion of Champions title.
Wright also won the men’s singles club title, ahead of runner-up Alan Booth. Wright and Michelle also featured in the mixed pairs by sharing the honours with Peter and Pat Maggs.
As a result, Wright was acknowledged as the Port Shepstone Country Club Player of the Year, while Murray Ross was presented with the President’s Award.
One of the other highlights this year was Jenny Rawlins and Winnie Hess winning the All Natal Pairs, an outstanding achievement.
The ladies pairs club champions were Winnie Hess and Pat Maggs, and the runners-up were Jenny Rawlins and Elena Frizelle.
The club men’s pairs was won by Eddie Fann and Howard Frizelle with Flippie Geyer and Booth the runners-up. The ladies singles club title went to Pat Maggs with Michelle as runners-up.
The committee for the ensuing year was also announced. Dave Price remains at the helm for another year and will serve along with committee members Nico de Jong, Michelle Vermeulen, Helen de Jong (secretary), Jeff Barnes, Caroline Harris (match secretary) and Murray Ross.
