Eddie Fann and Gill Thiele were named Bowlers of the Year at Port Shepstone Country Club’s recent awards ceremony.
Fann is the most decorated bowler in the club’s history and the South African team stalwart continues to set the standard at Sheppie Country Club, while Thiele succeeds Maureen Muller as the club’s leading ladies player.
Murray Ross also had a good year and was rewarded with the President’s Award.
The new bowls committee were also confirmed and saw Len Rossler being elected as president. Judy Anderson will serve as secretary with Murray Ross, Gill Thiele, Dave Price and Tony Johnson completing the committee.
Meanwhile, the winners of the Business Day Bowls Challenge sponsored by Umthunzi Hotel and Conference and South Coast Aesthetics and Dental were the Coastal Cellular team of Brian and Jenny Rawlins, Thiele and Kevin Mullen on +22.
The runners-up were the Pete Stoppel’s team of Fann, Howard Frizelle, Rossler and Caroline Harris on +19 and third place went to the Quinn’s Coconut Oil team of Jane Massam, Don Rossouw, Alan Murphy and Sandy Shepherd on +10.
The toucher prize was won by Mullen with no less than 10.
The club’s Mixed Pairs competition was also played recently. Roy Anderson and Caroline Harris were the winners with Murray and Julie Ross finishing as runners-up.
