The Port Shepstone High School Oratory Society recently attended the provincial round of the South African Agency of Science and Technological Advancement (SAASTA) at Durban Girls High School.
The topic which was debated on the day was: Does it remain important for South Africa to continue bioprospecting in search of solutions to a myriad of challenges facing the country?
Considering this question from a political perspective – Port Shepstone High School agreed with the statement. We participated with eight other KZN schools, all consisting of five-man teams. The topic was rigorously debated throughout the day and it proved to be a pleasure to engage other learners at this level.
Port Shepstone High School was placed first in the competition, and will now represent KwaZulu-Natal in the national competition. We are incredibly proud of the diligence which these learners have shown.
