Due to popular demand, the Umzimkhulu Honorary Officers are excited to announce that the 2017 Southern Shoreline Challenge will be starting this Sunday from the South bank of the Umzimkulu River (The Block).

There will be nine beach walks in total, of approximately 5km each, and they will happen on every alternate Sunday.  Make a note in your calendar for the following walks which are diarised as:

Oslo Beach to Shelly Beach Ski-Boat Club on June 1, Shelly Beach Ski-Boat Club to Lucien Beach on June 25, Lucien Beach to Ramsgate Whale Deck on July 9, Ramsgate Whale Deck to Marina Beach on July 23, Marina Beach to Mpenjati South on August 6, Mpenjati South to Munster Beach on August 20, Munster Beach to Port Edward Beach on September 3 and finally, Port Edward to Umtamvuna on September 17 for the final prize giving ceremony.

The cost is R20 per person, per walk, and all funds raised will be donated to the Conservation Groups. Registration & coffee will be served at 7am and walks start at 7.30am to coincide with the low tide.

Breakfast rolls & coffee will be served at the end of each walk at R30 per person.

The organisers would appreciate it if you could arrange with fellow participants to have a vehicle parked at the finish of each leg, but they are arranging some transport for those that will need lifts back to the start.
