Saturday’s Swim-A-Thon Relay Challenge hosted by Blue Ocean Aquatics Swim Club at Creston College was a great success and enjoyed by all.
Schools, companies, clubs, families and friends formed teams and were tasked with the exciting assignment of completing as many 50-metre laps as possible in allocated time periods.
The 10 years and under category required teams to be in action for 30 minutes and swimmers 11 years and older had to swim for an hour.
Any stroke could be swum in the event, which raised funds for a pool-heating system during the winter months, and laps could also be walked or doggie paddled.
The winners of the open category were Durban-based Aquazone with an amazing total of 112 laps.
Margate Swimming Club’s Dream Team were the runners-up with 107 laps with hosts Blue Ocean Aquatics’ Falcodor third with 104 laps.
Flying Fish won the 10 and under category after managing to complete 42 laps. Kings and One Queen (35 laps) and Minions (32 laps) also showed good fitness and finished second and third respectively.
