The KwaZulu-Natal men’s coastals hockey team continued their winning ways in the South African Country Districts tournament with a 7-1 thrashing of a Limpopo Invitational side in Limpopo on Monday.
KwaZulu-Natal opened the scoring with a drag flick from Port Shepstone star Warren van der Merwe and kept the pressure on the home side through great individual play and good passing skills.
The second goal came from another penalty corner and was scored by another Port Shepstone player Adin Bennett.
The game was all but over as a content at half-time with KwaZulu-Natal holding a commanding 4-0 lead.
KwaZulu-Natal dominated the second half with fantastic attacking play that saw Van der Merwe score a second-half hat-trick to finish the game with four goals.
Limpopo scored a late consolation goal from a counter attack but the day belonged to the coastal outfit who made it back-to-back wins in the national competition.
