Animals are also among the victims of the Covid-19 pandemic.

As the number of positive cases across the country continues to rise by the day, so too does the number of pets either being dropped off at the SPCA or being neglected at home due to the crippling impact of the pandemic on the economy.

The Lower South Coast SPCA has been fighting the good fight throughout the lockdown.

Rising to their greatest challenge yet, the dedicated staff have endured unprecedented struggles – saving neglected animals, others trapped in snares, treating the increasing number of animals being hit by cars while caring for those at their premises.

All this despite having little to no resources, with fundraisers having to be cancelled due to the lockdown and the charity shops only recently being given the go-ahead to reopen.

As the struggle continues, community members and businesses are urged to support the incredible work being done by the Lower South Coast SPCA through monetary donations or by donating pet food or blankets.

Use the following banking details to make a donation:

Acc Name: SPCA
Bank: Nedbank
Acc no: 1184618100
