STATEMENT BY UGU MUNICIPALITY:

On Tuesday at a media briefing on current water challenges, the Municipal Manager, Mr DD Naidoo confirmed that the Municipality has ascertained that there has been unauthorised interference in our systems.

The Municipality has subsequently opened case, No: CAS454/09/2017 which is being investigated by Cpt Miya who can be contacted on 082 335 1678 by any individuals who might have knowledge of the people behind this act.

Please also note that this case is being dealt with at a high level by the Priority Crimes Task Team for Crimes Against the State.

Also, members of the public who wish to assist with information on this case can either contact our Whistle Blowers Toll Free Line on 0801 111 660 or contact our Manager Internal Audit, Ms Zevile Dlamini on (039) 688 5828 and report these unlawful acts. Whistle blowers are guaranteed anonymity.

We are also exploring other avenues to ascertain what the cause of this situation may be. Community assistance in this regard will be appreciated.
