Monday water supply update from Ugu

The Municipality is aware that some areas are experiencing water supply interruption with some areas being out of normal water supply for several days now.

Please be informed that the Storage at Bhobhoyi Plant is not stabilizing due to high demand and of water being lost in transition to supply reservoirs. The Municipality has therefore activated a leak detection team to walk all lines to Marburg, Northern System and Southern lines to assess where water is being lost.

There is currently water supply interruption on Alexander Road. Please note that we have a team on the ground to walk the lines and conduct leak detection.

There is water interruption on 1st Avenue, Ramsay, Gloucester and Owen Ellis Road. This is due to a burst pipe and technicians have been assigned to attend to this problem.

Certain areas of Gamalakhe are experiencing water supply interruptions. Technicians are on the ground conducting leak detection to ascertain where water is being lost as reticulation cannot be sent to Gamalakhe Reservoir.

Below is the water shedding scheduled for the urgent attention of the Harding Community.

1) Greenfield/Ghost Town/Mazakhele areas will be getting water on the following days Monday & Wednesday (6pm to 7am) and Saturday (4am to 8pm).

2) Business Sector/Domestic areas next to the business will get water 5 days a week that is Mon/Tues/Thurs/Fri/Sat (7am to 4pm). NB there will be no supply on Wed for business sector and domestic close by

3) St Andrews will continue to get water daily from 6pm to 7am.

4) No one will get water on Sunday except for Hospital. Sunday, we build up our storage supply for the week ahead.

It must be known this plan can be interrupted due to many technical factors, but should such changes happen it will be communicated. We are reinstalling static tanks across Ward 3 as back up.
