More Ugu employees contract Covid-19

The municipality on Sunday confirmed two of its staff members from the Finance Department at Bazley Street in Port Shepstone and one staff member from the Marburg workshop under Water Services Department have tested positive for Covid-19. And in consultation with the Department of Health, the affected employees have been placed in isolation.

And in line with the Covid-19 Department of Health protocols, the Finance Offices located on the upper level of Bazley Street in Port Shepstone and the Marburg workshop have been cordoned-off and closed until necessary disinfection and decontamination measures have been conducted.

The municipality is currently engaged with the process of ensuring compliance with all Covid-19 applicable protocols in dealing with a positive case of Covid-19 in a workplace.

Necessary measures have already been taken for the employees who were in direct contact with the affected employees and they have been subjected to the Department of Health stringent testing protocols and will be placed in quarantine while waiting for their results.

The health of our workers is our utmost priority during this period and we shall put in place all measures to safeguard the wellbeing of our workers while ensuring that municipal operations are not being adversely compromised.

Residents are requested to bear with us for any inconvenience that might occur while the municipality is in the process of initiating measures which are tailored to curtail the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
