The first-ever South Coast Snooker Awards ceremony took place on Saturday evening at Margate Country Club, where players were rewarded for their outstanding achievements in the sport.

The players took this opportunity to relax and have some fun. The award for the Most Improved Young Player went to Damon Schloms while the Most Dedicated Player award went to Collin Chetty.

The coveted Player of the Year award was unanimously won by Siyanda Nkonyeni, who featured well in the league and the knockout tournaments.

Meanwhile, token of appreciation awards were awarded to Flip Fourie and Gary Smith for their assistance in promoting snooker on the South Coast.

Now that the season is over, many players are already back on the green baize, honing in on their skills to become champions next year.

The 2020 season gets underway in February and the local snooker association will be directly affiliated to the SA Cue Sports Federation and SA Snooker.

This will give our local youth and talented players an opportunity to participate in all national snooker tournaments on behalf of the Ugu District Snooker Association.

If you are interested in joining the sport of snooker, which is growing in leaps and bounds on the South Coast, contact Selvin Moodley on 083 272 1757 for more information.
