On November 1-2, the highly anticipated Africa Marine and Leisure Expo will return to the South Coast.
Set against the beautiful backdrop of Scottburgh’s Main Beach, the event is now in its third year and looks set to be bigger and better than ever.
The 2014 Africa Marine and Leisure Expo shares a common theme with the expos of previous years, celebrating the value of water as a resource and the incredible range of water-based activities that take place on the South Coast, whilst simultaneously underlining the need to conserve our oceans for the future.
The event acts as a platform for conservational speakers from around South Africa and further afield, while also encouraging visitors to explore a wide range of fun-filled activities catering to guests of all ages. This year’s event includes several new elements, one of the most exciting of which will be the Boat and Outdoor Lifestyle section bought to the Expo by Creative Events.
Creative Events certainly have the experience and expertise to bring this new aspect of the Africa Marine and Leisure Expo to life, having organised the Durban Boat and Lifestyle Show for the past eleven years.
The Durban Boat and Lifestyle Show is a featured event on the Durban Exhibition calendar, and with such prestigious origins, its sister event at this year’s Expo is sure to be a roaring success.
The Boat and Outdoor Lifestyle section presents an ideal opportunity for exhibitors to showcase their products directly to the KwaZulu-Natal and South Coast market, making its addition to the Expo as exciting for retailers as it is for prospective buyers. Any product that can be used on or around the water has its place in this new section of the Expo, which is expected to attract over 5,000 visitors from around the province.
The section will showcase boats, dive equipment, charters, towcars, 4x4s and jetskis, as well as a wide range of other watersports and outdoor leisure equipment.
The Boat and Outdoor Lifestyle section of the Expo will be situated on the grassed area above the main beach, as well as the tarred parking area adjacent to it. All stands are open air, and exhibitors are welcome to erect gazebos and create their own branded area within the Expo.
Exhibitors should hasten to take advantage of this incredible opportunity for exposure, especially since the costs of exhibiting have been kept super-low in order to allow vendors to test the waters at this inaugural event.
“This will be a new venture for us,” said the Boat and Outdoor Lifestyle section organiser, Barry Meehan.
“We have only concentrated on our own Durban show before, but we look forward to bringing a part of it to the South Coast. The venue is excellent, and we look forward to a fantastic Africa Marine & Leisure Expo.”
The Africa Marine and Leisure Expo is hosted by South Coast Tourism, and CEO Justin Mackrory has this to say about the event’s purpose: “Our magnificent coastline is a major draw card for oceanic leisure and sports and this event is presented as a means to not only profile our coast but also its amazing spectrum of on- and under- sea offerings.
“As this market segment grows, we also anticipate greater consumer interest in ocean craft, associated technology and allied services relating to what is a key sell for us on the South Coast.”
As well as the excitement of the Boat and Outdoor Lifestyle section, this year’s Expo will include several other highlights – from the three-day South Coast Strongman Triathlon, to a child-friendly Beach Sport Fun Zone, to the Craft Market and Food Truck Revolution Market.
Guests will also be able to take part in conservation initiatives, listen to influential and informative lectures, and learn about a wide range of amazing water-based activities- from scuba diving to surfing and fishing.
