Pieter Hart (pictured) became the latest runner to reach a milestone when he completed his 100th Uvongo parkrun on Saturday.
A total of 307 runners and walkers participated in the weekend’s run, including 29 first-timers and around 50 visitors. There were 48 personal bests, the fastest time being 16:29.
Hart is one of several runners to achieve milestones, with Vani Pather reaching the magical 250 mark recently.
The Uvongo parkrun is a fun, free event every Saturday at 8am organised by volunteers for the benefit of all athletes.
The 5km route starts just off the St Michael’s beach parking lot and leads onto Saints Walk path, continuing adjacent to Orange Rocks Road on grass, past Orange Rocks through the coastal reserve and onto the grass verge between Stafford Avenue and the sea.
From there, it’s onto brick paving leading down and onto Uvongo beach, turning on sand under the cliffs at the gorge and returning the same way, and then 300m on St Michael’s beach up to and ending on the grass in front of C-Bali Restaurant.
