Shelly Beach Lions Club was at the Southcoast Mall on Saturday to test for diabetes and share knowledge about this illness.
A total of 138 tests were given with 17 being out of range, including one that was 20.6. All community members out of range were advised to seek further medical consultations.
The club also donated two testing machines to two ladies, Anna and Francina, to help them manage their diabetes safely.
Hibiscus Helping Hands were also on site to collect food and goods for families in need. Over two trolleys were filled and a boot load of second-hand clothing was donated by South Coasters and visitors.
The club thanks its members, Hibiscus Helping Hands, Southcoast Mall and Nurse Jan McCool for their help in providing services to the local community.
