Five brave South Coast swimmers last week participated in a ‘Hell Week’ swimming challenge at Marburg pool.
This was done to celebrate the easing of lockdown rules with regards to swimming and for the swimmers to regain some water fitness.
Taking up the challenge were Lou Schoeman, Anton Rossouw, Ayanda Mbili, Chad Gifford and Mark Smith.
Each swimmer swam 5km or more every day, totalling more than 35km for the week. That is more than 21 Midmar Miles in one week.
“It was a tough challenge, but all of us managed to push through to the end. The arms were stiff but the smiles were huge after our final swim on Sunday,” said Smith.
