South Coasters rallied behind a worthy cause in Saturday’s Run for Rare at Lake Eland Game Reserve.
Community members turned up in numbers for the fundraiser, organised by Megan Rowbotham from Hailey’s Halo.
“We were blessed with over 350 attendees, 320 of whom entered the run/walk, and raised almost R40 000, which will be donated to our recipients – Rare Diseases South Africa and Ashton’s Army,” said a thrilled Rowbotham, a Rare Diseases South Africa activist.
“Thank you to each and every person who joined us! It was so special to come together as a community to support each other. A big thank you to all of our amazing sponsors and everyone who helped with the set-up and running of the event. They are all what makes this community so special.
“A special word of thanks to Lake Eland, our main sponsor for the day, for graciously providing the use of their facilities and sponsoring both zipline tickets and scooter tour tickets. Willie, the general manager, and his team were outstanding with all their hard work and support!
“A massive thanks to MF Tractor Parts for donating a whopping R10 000 towards Ashton’s Army and to Harbourview Spar for sponsoring all the water tables,” added Rowbotham.
