EHOWZIT HAS RECEIVED THIS STATEMENT FROM THE PORT SHEPSTONE POLICE
On Thursday last week a highly successful undercover operation was held by Port Shepstone police. The Department of Justice, Department of Health and Home Affairs were part of the operation. The operation was aimed to target illegal abortions and persons who illegally hand out pamphlets in the CBD and surrounding area. Seven males, originally from Uganda and who were practising as doctors, were arrested . Two premises in the CBD were identified and closed down. The men were detained by Home Affairs as illegal immigrants. They will be deported by Home Affairs. Numerous boxes with pamphlets and a large number of cell phones were confiscated. The suspects are all in their mid thirties. During a follow up operation yesterday, six more illegal immigrants were arrested. They are also in detention. Three other suspects were arrested for illegally handing out the pamphlets. The three were fined and have to pay R500-00 for the offence. According to municipal bylaws section 31(2) r/w section 34 (a) , permission must be obtained to hand out certain pamphlets. Colonel William Slabbert, Vispol Head at Port Shepstone police, has ordered continuous operations of this kind.
