Sheppie High learners showcase heart and skill

Port Shepstone High School learners made an impact on and off the sports field last week.

Sesethu Phuza (pictured) was one of the learners who donated blood during a clinic held on 30 January, while her fellow learners showcased their sporting prowess.

Nine Sheppie High athletes attended their first meeting held at Kings Park in Durban.

Best results were achieved by Nkosazana Mchunu who came first in the U15 400 meters, in a time of one minutes 06.1 seconds.

Mlungisi Mabaso jumped 6.44m and took first place in the U19 age group while Philelinkosi (PK) Shozi ran the 800 meters in two minutes 16.2 seconds in the U17 age group.

The first team cricket boys beat Amanzimtoti by eight wickets, with top scorer being Tyler Hogan with 38 runs. The U15 team won by 50 runs.

Water polo was against Kingsway, and both the first team boys and girls lost their matches.

The A and B golf teams played against Kingsway; the A team won 4-0 and the B team lost 4-0.

The first team girls touch rugby beat St Benedict’s 3-1. The juniors lost to Hillcrest 3-0 and the first team boys beat Kingsway 5-3.

Well done to Ethan Struwig who scored 16 points for the U15 basketball team. The U15s won 23-12, the U14s lost 17-1 and the first team won 46-33.
