The Port Shepstone Regional Hospital educated scholars about chronic diseases recently as part of an ongoing wellness and lifestyle campaign.
The hospital held a Chronic Disease and Healthy Lifestyle Awareness Campaign at Port Shepstone Secondary School in Albersville.
All of the students, including teachers, were very enthusiastic and eager to learn about healthy living and how they could prevent chronic diseases. A total of 367 scholars and teachers were screened for blood pressure, sugar diabetes, body mass index (BMI), tuberculosis (TB), eyes and mental health.
Health education on various health topics was done by Dr Pillay, Dietician Ash Aenmey and the nurses. Members of staff from the Port Shepstone Hospital Wellness team were also invited to coast and engage both learners and teachers on taebo and this proved to be a fun-filled session enjoyed by all. The campaign was a huge success.
The Port Shepstone Hospital management would like to thank the principal, teachers and learners of Port Shepstone Secondary School for showing a keen interest in wellness and healthy lifestyle of their students.
