He was a stalwart in the Umzinto community and served on various cultural and sporting bodies on the South Coast.
Local sporting icon, Ravi Padayachee, was born on October 29, 1963, in Umzinto, and matriculated at Umzinto Secondary School in 1981, after which he served as a school secretary at various schools in Umzinto and Port Shepstone.
He was a stalwart in the Umzinto community and served on various cultural and sporting bodies on the South Coast.
In 2018 he was elected President of UGU District Cricket Union, Ravi was also a chairperson on the KZNCU Coastal Rural Cricket, as well as serving on the KZN General Counsel and MANCO.
Ravi was known for his integrity and fairness in everything that he did, which propelled him, in becoming an excellent administrator and displayed passion and commitment in ensuring, that he got the best out of his subordinates.
On the playing field, he brought the best out of his players and ensured they were successful in their respective leagues.
During his tenure as President he arranged a cricket tour for the U16 players to India. He will be sadly missed by family, friends and members of the sporting fraternity. He is survived by his wife Delosha, daughter Chandini and brothers Shamalen, Vijay and Kumar.
